Locked On Titans - Daily Podcast On The Tennessee Titans - Mock Draft: Tennessee Titans TRADE BACK for Carnell Tate in BEST POSSIBLE START to NFL Draft

Episode Date: March 29, 2026

The Tennessee Titans can go multiple routes in the first round of the NFL Draft, but a trade back and landing Carnell Tate at wide receiver may be the best possible outcome the team could hope for wit...h wide receiver being checked off as a need, but also with multiple Day 2 picks to add to the chest of assets. With that additional pick on Day 2, the Titans can afford to be a bit more risky with their picks which means attacking offensive line issues a year in advance. Adding offensive tackle and guard on Day 2 along with a speed edge is the perfect way to follow up the Tate pick. Finally, on Day 3, the Titans need to add players who can bring quality depth, but still be developed into potential starters down the road or at least, players who can fill a particular role on the team that isn't obviously filled.   LOCKED ON TITANS EVERYDAY CLUB: https://lockedontitans.supercast.com/   Subscribe to the TicTacTitans Film Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@TicTacTitans   TicTacTitans Merchandise: https://dixons-dream.square.site/shop/tictactitans-gear/C3AAPNWXSXA6SBYG3USV2I7R?page=1&limit=30&sort_by=category_order&sort_order=asc   Follow Tyler on Twitter @TicTacTitans   Follow the show on Facebook @LockedOnTitansPod   Subscribe to the Locked On Titans YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/LockedOnTitans/videos     Everydayer ClubIf you never miss an episode, it’s time to make it official. Starting point is 00:00:00 The best thing the Tennessee Titans could do in the first round of the NFL draft is trade back. And I'm going to show you what it would look like in a seven-round mock draft edition of Locked-on Titans. You are Locked-on Titans, your daily Tennessee Titans podcast, part of the Locked-on Podcast network, your team every day. Welcome to the Locked on Titans podcast. I am your host, Tyler Rowland Titans fans. On today's show, it is time to help Cam Ward, and that means a trade back. I'm going to go through seven rounds of a mock draft after a trade back in the first round. Show you exactly what I would do.
Starting point is 00:00:47 We attack the offensive line. We add good depth on day three, but it starts again with a trade back in the first round. Before we dive in, do want to thank you for making Locked on Titans. Your first listen each and every day. Remember, Monday through Friday, Tennessee Titans content, All year round, always for free. Make sure that you get subscribed, stay subscribed. It's your team every day.
Starting point is 00:01:10 Speaking of every day, shout out to my everydayers out there. Tune in Monday through Friday. Couldn't do it without you guys. If you aren't an everydayer, what are you doing? The draft is less than a month away. Tomorrow, we're going to start the 2026 Locked on Titans NFL Draft Preview Series where we break down over 200 different prospects. We hit every single position.
Starting point is 00:01:31 Make sure that you stay locked in. with the number one Tennessee Titans podcast in the world, locked on Titans. But with that being said, again, Jeremiah loved this, Ruben Bain, that everybody has their different favorite players. But for me, my favorite option for the Titans is a trade back. Now, of course, the Tennessee Titans could trade back a far ways.
Starting point is 00:01:54 They could trade back into the mid-to-late teens. But I think trading back just a couple of spots is the most realistic and the most benefit for the Tennessee Titans. So when I start to look at who could trade up with the Titans. Maybe the Browns want to jump the Giants to get their offensive tackle of choice.
Starting point is 00:02:14 The offensive tackles could go off the board early. In this mock draft, it went Fernando Mendoza, R. Val Rees, and Francis Malanoa from Miami, the offensive linemen. So maybe the Browns want to jump again,
Starting point is 00:02:29 get the next offensive linemen before the Giants do. Also, maybe a team like the commanders want to jump up and get one of those premier talents. The Giants are interested in a guy like Sunny Stiles, maybe Caleb Downs, maybe Jeremiah Love, one of these guys who isn't a premium position but is considered a premium talent. Maybe the Saints want to move up and get one of these guys. They have draft capital to play with. Ultimately, I went with a trade from the Washington commanders.
Starting point is 00:02:58 And I know that the Washington commanders do not have a lot of. of draft capital in this draft. They simply don't. They don't have a second round pick because they traded for Laramie Tunsel, but you look at their roster. They've done a lot of great stuff here. They have a very good offensive line.
Starting point is 00:03:14 They're probably going to get Brandon Iyuket wide receiver to go with Terry McLaren. They brought in Chigacanquo at tight end. They need some help at running back, but they don't have some bad ones. They added a bunch of free agents. On the defensive side of the ball with Adafé Oway and Charles A Menichue
Starting point is 00:03:30 and K. Levon Chase on and Tim Suttall or settle on the defensive line. They brought in Nick Cross, Amick Robertson, a Kellogglespoon in the secondary. What they're truly missing is a number one linebacker. Frankie Lou Vu is more of a versatile guy. They can rush and do different things. Leo Chanel is a good player,
Starting point is 00:03:47 but is he the rock in the middle of your defense? So I have the Washington commanders trading up to number four to get in front of the New York Giants to get linebacker sunny styles from Ohio State. In that trade, because the commanders do not have a second rounder to offer. What we did was, I got a first round pick in 2027. I got pick number 7 from Washington, and then they threw in number 71, which is a third round pick.
Starting point is 00:04:18 The Titans in return give up the number 4 overall pick and a 4th round pick. And to me, this is very similar to the trade that we just saw the Browns and the Jags-Makes-Make. last year. A team moves up three spots. They give up next year's first and they give up basically mid-round draft capital. Now last year the Browns got number five a second round pick a fourth round pick and a first round pick in 2026. The Jags gave up a first a fourth and a sixth in this one the Titans give up a fourth round pick 101 which is a very valuable pick the first pick on day three and they don't get an additional fourth. And that kind of makes up for not having the second round pick, not giving up the sixth. So it's pick number seven, pick number 71,
Starting point is 00:05:12 and next year's first round pick for pick number four and pick number 101. If you look at some of the draft calculators for trades and things like that, pretty similar to what we've seen in trades before. So cover my bases there. So then the commanders go with Sunny Stiles. the Giants take Jeremiah Love,
Starting point is 00:05:33 the Browns, who might be trading away Miles Garrett, but regardless, take David Bailey. And at number seven, I went with Carnell Tate, wide receiver out of Ohio State. And here's the thing. I have not been high on Carnell Tate throughout the process. I do not think the Titan should take him at number four.
Starting point is 00:05:53 I do not think that he's a number one alpha wide receiver. but I'm not just taking Carnell Tate with this pick. You know what I'm taking? I'm taking Carnell Tate, a first rounder in 2027, and an extra pick in the third round. That makes Carnell Tate worth it at number seven. And as a player, 6 foot 2, 192 pounds, 21 years old still, so a young player that can still grow, great size, an incredible vertical threat and vertical weapon.
Starting point is 00:06:31 He has elite hands. He did not drop a pass all year long. He is a scheme fit for the Titans. He can be that isolated guy who gets used in kind of the Malik neighbor's role that the Giants had last year, stretch down the field, win isolation challenges when you trips on one side, and you have them by themselves on one side.
Starting point is 00:06:53 I think that Carnell Tate, with Cam Ward specifically, want to help Cam Ward, if you want to help Cam Ward, Carnell Tate is the pick that you take. Now again, at number four, I can't do it, but after a small trade back, Cornell Tate becomes an elite option. Again, for Cam Ward, we know that Cam Ward's biggest struggles last year
Starting point is 00:07:14 were his deep accuracy down the field. We know that the Titans brought in Wondell Robinson, have Chim DK, brought back Calvin Ridley. You know who fits perfectly with all those guys? a 6-foot-2, 190-pound, deep threat, isolation, vertical wide receiver. Now, with Cornell Tate, if we're just being honest, some of the concerns that I have, he's never had to be the alpha-wide receiver in college. He always had Jeremiah Smith on the other side when he was breaking out.
Starting point is 00:07:46 He is not a good yards-after-catch guy. He just doesn't have that kind of wiggle and explosiveness. Me personally, I think that is the separator between alpha-wide receivers and non-alpha wide receivers in the NFL is yards after catchability. He doesn't really have that. So can he be an alpha number one receiver? I don't think that he can. But that doesn't mean that he would be a bad pick here
Starting point is 00:08:07 with everything we have going on. And route toughness, the short, the intermediate routes, can he work through the contact, get to the middle of the field, make a physical catch in traffic over the middle? I don't know. I don't know. There are some concerns about that on the tape.
Starting point is 00:08:23 But overall, everything he does, does bring to the table. Plus, getting a first round pick next year and what could be an elite draft. Getting an additional third round pick this year, which helps the Titans massively. I think this is an elite scenario, an ideal scenario. Taking Jeremiah Love at four, taking Ruben Bain at four, taking David Bailey at four, taking Cardinal Tate at four, taking Sonny Stiles at four, whoever you like and want to take. I'm sorry, but that's, is not a better outcome than Carnell Tate plus next year's pick plus an extra third rounder. You can't make that argument.
Starting point is 00:09:05 None of these players are blue chip talents enough. None of these prospects are good enough prospects to tell me that taking that guy at number four is better than Carnell Tate plus the extra cherries on top. It can't be. There's nobody in this draft class who's good enough. to where I will tell you that taking them at number four by themselves is going to overrule or outnumber this. If we're balancing the chemistry equations, you cannot balance this.
Starting point is 00:09:36 This is X is less than X plus Y plus Z. And whether this was Cornell Tate, David Bailey, Jeremiah, whoever you want to talk about being, the player plus the additional draft capital is far better than any of the, I'm taking this guy at number four conversations. So the Titans trade back and get Carnell Tate. Now we have an extra day to pick. What are we going to do with it?
Starting point is 00:10:07 We're going to continue to support Cam Ward. Do want to let you know that today's episode is brought to you by Robin Hood. What if sports were traded like markets? Event contracts are offered by Robin Hood derivatives LLC, a registered futures commission merchant and swap firm. Fans, let's continue today's 7-round mock draft edition of the Locked on Titans. Again, we traded back with the Washington commanders.
Starting point is 00:11:43 I know the commanders don't have a lot of picks, but they have a very good roster, and they have a few places where they're going to get some additional help, so I think it makes sense. We get a 2027 first round pick, number 71, an extra third round pick, and we move back from 4 to 7 and take Carnell Tate. Now we get to the Titan's second round pick at number 35, and what are we going to do?
Starting point is 00:12:05 We are going to continue to support Cam Ward. But it may not be in a way. that you're thinking. I teased it last week. But if this player is on the board at number 35, there better be a dang good player available that would make me change my mind.
Starting point is 00:12:25 Because right now in this mock draft, the options I had at Edge, Zion Young, Malachi Lawrence, R. Mason Thomas, Gabe Joccus, Derek Moore, Denny Denise Sutton, Ramello Hype, Josh Josephs. Those were my options.
Starting point is 00:12:40 Brandon Cise, Colton Hood, Chris Johnson, DeAngelo Ponds, Kianti Scott, Traden Stukes, Keith Abney, that cornerback, O-line, Emmanuel Pregon, Chase Basantis, Kaelin Rutledge, or who I went with. And I know that I raged against it, but it would make a lot of sense. Max, Eonachor, the offensive tackle,
Starting point is 00:13:10 out of Arizona State. That's right. Offensive tackle. You want to support Cam Ward? Give Cam Ward an offensive line. You want to think a year ahead and be a smart general manager. Think a year ahead. Dan Moore is not worth the money that he's getting.
Starting point is 00:13:28 I don't think the Titan should keep Dan Moore around after the year. Good offensive tackles do not last in the draft. You picked up an extra third round pick that you can use for something else. That allows you to take the best talent on the board in round two and getting Ian Anchor, Ian Akor, Ian Akor, it's a tough name for me, it really is, and a core. Getting him to not only become your future left tackle, but to give you depth this year, again, you want to support Cam Ward.
Starting point is 00:14:07 We need weapons, you need an offensive line. We got Cam Ward, a big body, deep threat target to help his biggest deficiency. Now let's think a year ahead and get a starting offensive tackle. 6 foot 5, 320 pounds, 34 and a half inch arms. He has great size, great athletic profile, really good anchor. He is great in past protection as an athlete, and there's so much potential with Ian Accor because he just started playing football late like college age. He was playing basketball before that. This is a guy who can get even better.
Starting point is 00:14:55 Now, he's not the most powerful driving, mauling offensive tackle. He's 24 years old already, so can he develop more? But I think that actually helps him because he's more mentally ready to go. And he needs help with this technique. Again, he's a latecomer to football. But let Carmen Bracillo, one of the best offensive line coaches in the entire NFL, let him get his hands on him. Let him develop that technique.
Starting point is 00:15:23 And the best part is he can add more muscle, get stronger, work on his technique as he sits a year behind Dan Moore and J.C. Latham. And if one of those guys gets hurt, which always seems to happen, J.C. Latham missed some time. Now you're protected. Now you don't have Austin Deccles in there, protecting Cam Ward if there's an injury up front. And if something really bad happens,
Starting point is 00:15:52 maybe you can kick him inside, play him at guard. Maybe you kick J.C. Latham inside and play him at guard. If things aren't going well at tackle, you have those kind of options. I know that some people will be mad about this. pick because he doesn't fill a starting role this year. But I don't care about that. I care about Cam Ward in year three, Cam Ward in year four, Cam Ward in year five.
Starting point is 00:16:17 If we get an elite offensive tackle for the next five to six years, that's what I care about. So I am taking the privilege that we have of getting additional draft capital, having two first round picks next year, and I'm going to take an offensive tackle. and develop him. Let's stay a year ahead of problems instead of being a year behind for once. So, tell me how mad you are about this pick, but I'm supporting Cam Ward with a number one wide receiver
Starting point is 00:16:50 or potential number one wide receiver or at least a very good number two wide receiver and his left tackle of the future. That also brings depth this year. Max Ian Accord is my pick. But now, now that we have those two on the board, Carnell Tate and Maxie in Accord We move to pick number 66
Starting point is 00:17:10 And I had a lot of different options here as well We could go back to the offensive line Jennings Dunker is available Keelon Rutledge is still available Connor Luce Sam Heck Logan Jones Jake Slaughter We could go to the edge
Starting point is 00:17:27 We still need a speed rusher Danny Denise Sutton Ramello Heights Josh Joseph's all available Hey, Mike Washington is on the board. Do we need running back? I'm supporting Cam Ward. I am supporting Cam Ward.
Starting point is 00:17:44 And that's why with pit number 66, I'm going back to the offensive line. You didn't like offensive tackle because that's not an immediate starter. Well, now you have one. Jennings Dunker. The interior offensive lineman out of Iowa with the beautiful flaming red mullet.
Starting point is 00:18:03 6.5.320, 33 and a half. inch arms size, bulk, arm length, check, check, check. Incredible strength. This dude is a powerhouse. He is a nasty mauler in the run game. And Brian Dable's system likes bigger guards, stronger guards. Now, Dunker is an incredible athlete. His testing numbers were not good.
Starting point is 00:18:28 He's not a good movement guy. Do you want him pulling and getting out on the perimeter? I don't know. He's had some trouble at times picking up stunts because he's not the most athletic god But in college he was playing out at tackle That's why we're moving him inside to gore Because we don't have to worry as much about him
Starting point is 00:18:47 Not being as great of an athlete Not being able to shuffle his feet to stay with edge rushers And catch loopers on the outside We're moving him inside, play in a phone booth Use that power, use that strength, shut people down So we have Jettings Dunker who's going to start at right guard immediately. We have Cardell Tate who is immediately
Starting point is 00:19:09 going to be the best deep threat on the team and our physical ex-isolation receiver and he has the ability to move over if the Titans add anybody else. He can move around. He's versatile. We add Maxine of course and we have a left tackle of the future in waiting, developing behind the scenes.
Starting point is 00:19:28 And now, after doing that and supporting KM Ward, with two offensive linemen and a wide receiver. Now we move to the extra pick that we got from the Washington Commanders pick number 71. And now it's time, now it's time to go back to the defensive side of the ball. Now it's time to go to the edge. And my pick at number 71 with Ramello Heights, Joshua Joseph's, I'm going with Joshua Joseph from Tennessee.
Starting point is 00:19:59 The Titans need a speed rusher. with great get-off off the line of scrimmage that can line up as the wide nine edge and get after the quarterback. Joshua Joseph's 6-foot-3, 240 pounds, 34-and-a-quarter-inch arms, and boy, he uses it. His speed off-the-line-of-scrimmage, incredible get-off. Not quite David Bailey, not quite Cassius Howe in this draft class, but incredible get-off the line of scrimmage to be the speed rusher, the Titans Need, which Remain Johnson, Femiole dejo is the power rushers.
Starting point is 00:20:32 The length, he uses it. Tons of force fumbles. I think it was four force fumbles this year. He uses that length to get the ball out of the quarterback's hands. He has good bend, good ankle flexion. He's able to get low, and he has so much potential to have a huge move set. He's used the, he uses like a hook move. He used a little bit of an inside spin, used a little bit of a one arm.
Starting point is 00:21:02 He's got to get better with this plan. And he didn't get a lot of snaps at Tennessee. Tennessee is big on a defensive line rotation. None of their guys get a ton of snaps on the D line. Maybe that's the smart thing to do, but it limits how much a guy can develop because he's just not getting 700, 800 snaps. I think he got 400 snaps on Tennessee's defense.
Starting point is 00:21:23 So he needs a better plan with his moves, how to use his moves, when to deploy his moves. And right now he's not a very good edge setter against the run. but we have talked at length about how Jermaine Johnson, Femiola Dejo, John Franklin Myers can all play on the edge and be that physical edge setter against the run. Well, at pick number 77, the Titans can afford to have Josephs as a designated pass rusher early on.
Starting point is 00:21:51 Come out on third downs and get up the field. And then Jacob Martin, who's another speed rusher, who's 6'3-240 pounds, can be Joseph's backup. So you have Joseph's. You have John Franklin Myers. You have Jeffrey Simmons. You have Femio LaDajio and Jermaine Johnson
Starting point is 00:22:11 rotating as the effort cleanup edge on the other side. That is a rotation. I am in love with this start to the draft. Carnell Tate, Maxie and Accor, Jennings Dunker, Joshua Josephs. What an absolute home run of a first four-pick sequence. for the Tennessee Titans. You support Cam Ward with protection, with playmakers. You get a first round pick in 2027,
Starting point is 00:22:41 still waiting so you have two first round picks next year. And then you get Joshua Joseph's and solidify your biggest need on defense, a speed edge rusher. What an absolute home run of a start to the NFL draft for the Titans, and that's why a trade back looks so, dang good. But with that in mind, we got a couple of picks left. And on day three of the draft,
Starting point is 00:23:10 we got more work to do. Fans, let's continue today's mock draft edition of the Locked on Titans podcast. We talked about the trade back in round one. Carnell Tate added offensive line, got some edge rush help. Now we move into day three looking to add to depth and looking to fill some roles on this team stylistically that aren't filled right now. Before we dive in, do want to thank you guys for making Locked on Titans your first listen each and every day.
Starting point is 00:24:00 Make sure that you guys join the Locked on Titans Everydayer Club. You're going to get an ad-free version of the show in your podcast app. You're going to get added to the Locked-on Titans group chat with me and a bunch of other everydayers while I'm answering your guys as questions, checking out your mock dress.
Starting point is 00:24:17 all of that, and you're going to get access to a locked on Titans merch store. Hit the link down below in the description to join. It's like the cost of a cup of coffee each month. I give you guys year-round free Tennessee Titans content. It's a small way to help support the show and get some bonus features along the way. But with that being said, again, we add two offensive linemen. We add edge. We have wide receiver.
Starting point is 00:24:41 We get a first round pick in 2027. I'm not done. I'm not done. with the offensive line. The Titans still need a center and we are attacking protection in this draft. So,
Starting point is 00:24:55 the next pick for the Titans is pick 142. But I don't want to wait that long. I don't want to wait that long because we're going to miss out on all of the good centers in rounds 3 through 5. So what I want to do is what I want to do is here
Starting point is 00:25:16 I want to move up. We have a lot of picks. We have 142. We have 144. We have 184. We have 194. We have 225. So what I'm going to do is
Starting point is 00:25:30 I'm going to take pick 194 in the 6th round. I'm going to take pick 144 and I'm going to move up to pick 122. So I'm going to move up about 20 spots. And I'm going to grab the center of the future. Matt Gooblin from Michigan State 6 foot 3, 3, 305 pounds
Starting point is 00:25:55 he's ready to go. 2300 snaps in college. He is ready to play. Experienced, ready to go. He is an incredibly strong guy, great anchor and pass protection to make sure he doesn't get pushed back into the quarterback again. We're protecting Cam Ward.
Starting point is 00:26:17 he is a nasty finisher. Again, with him and Jennings Dunker next to each other, they are going to mall people off the line of scrimmage. Which in Brian Daibald's system that is big on the run game, that's critical.
Starting point is 00:26:34 Nasty finisher. Great on reach blocks, really good technique at running his feet and getting across guys' faces. Excellent on the second level. He gets to the second level. He's locking up with linebackers. He's not moving off of him, keeping his hands attached.
Starting point is 00:26:50 Thing is, he doesn't have great length, but that's why he's playing center. He's not the best athlete. That's why he's going in round four. I wouldn't really want him as a big time puller, but at center, how much is he going to have to pull? And his hand power. Again, he gets on guys, he stays attached,
Starting point is 00:27:08 but his pop with his hands, not quite there. He's just not a raw, powerful guy. But his nasty demeanor makes up for that. His technique, the way he's always on balance. His feet are always in the right spot. His hands are always in the right spot. He's strong. He sits on his anchor and stays balance.
Starting point is 00:27:27 Like, this is a starting center. And the Titans are going to move up. Again, I traded 144 and 194, moved up to 122 and hit center. So now, now we've hit wide receiver, offensive tackle of the future starting guard, starting center. Bang, bang, bang. And even if Gooblin doesn't start right away
Starting point is 00:27:55 and it's Schlotman or it's Slater, even if Ian Accor doesn't start right away because Dan Moore, J.C. Latham, are good to go. This is about the future of Cam Ward. This is about protecting him for years to come. And the way that the Titans, through resources at pass catcher, last year with D.K. and I.O. Manor and Helm. is what we're doing in this draft with offensive line.
Starting point is 00:28:21 We are hammering the offensive line, and we are not going to allow us to have a depth issue on the offensive line during Cam Ward's rookie window. We're not going to do it. We are going to hammer offensive line. So we get wide receiver, we get edge, and we get three offensive linemen with our first five picks. That is how you hit your two biggest needs at premium positions.
Starting point is 00:28:42 fill rolls with a vertical wide receiver with size, a speed rusher off the edge, and make sure that Cam Ward has the proper protection he needs. Bang, bang, bang. Now we got to find depth players who can fill specific roles and with the remaining fifth round pick, 142. I went with Charles Deming, the cornerback out of SF Austin. All right, this guy is an elite athlete, literally a freak athlete, a 4-4-140, his testing numbers are off the charts.
Starting point is 00:29:16 If he didn't play at SF Austin, he would probably be a top 100 pick. The speed, the length, he is incredible getting to the football. Interceptions, pass breakups. He's a great jumper. Again, his like vertical jump was like 41 inches. He's great at press coverage.
Starting point is 00:29:39 So to me, he is a backup cornerback for Alante Taylor. He is the boundary cornerback because he's so good at pressing. He's got great speed and athleticism to recover, take things away, get to the football. He's not very good in off coverage, though.
Starting point is 00:29:55 He's got to learn to read routes better. His instincts just quite aren't there at this moment in time. And if he had better instincts and had better off coverage skills to read routes, he would make even more plays on the ball. and if you can get him to get better in those areas, you might have a 4-5 interception a year-type quarterback.
Starting point is 00:30:20 Like 3-4 is probably a more conservative. Like with his ball skills, if his instincts get better, his understanding of a defense gets better, and you put him in a spot where he doesn't have to think and he can just play with his speed, this is a guy who's going to make tons of plays on the ball. He can play special teams early on. Look his run defense.
Starting point is 00:30:38 He's a willing tackler. it's just not good enough, you know, not physical enough, needs to add some muscle, add some mass. But we'll let them play on special teams to get better there early on. And we'll develop him behind the scenes. And then we have a starting outside corner for years to come. Pick number 184 in the sixth round. I went with Tanner Coziel, the tight end out of Houston.
Starting point is 00:31:01 This is a big slot. This is our Mike Gassicki. This is our Darren Waller. We have Gunner Helm, Daniel Bellinger, traditional tight ends. We have Kylin Granson, who can be the move tight end and special teams type guy. Now we have our 6 foot 6, big slot, isolated, red zone style tight end. 247, 34-inch arms, super long, incredible hands.
Starting point is 00:31:28 This guy does not drop the football, which again, long catch radius, long body, great hands, all great for Cam Ward. fits perfectly with Cam Ward. Good route runner as well for a guy his size, which again, as a big slot Mike Gassicki type guy. He makes sense. And he's much more elusive yards after catch than it would seem like. He can make some guys miss in a phone booth.
Starting point is 00:31:50 He's just not a very good blocker. Doesn't sink his hips real well on intermediate, end breakers, outbreakers. But we want him to go vertical down the seam. We want him to run corner routes. We want him to run crossers as a tight end. He doesn't have a ton of power. He's not going to be that in-line wide tight end.
Starting point is 00:32:07 But we have that with Gunner Helm and Daniel Bellinger. We don't need that. So this is a role that the Titans don't perfectly have filled. And they can fill it with Tanner Coziel. So I like that as an option in a deep, deep, tight end class. But now we move to the final pick of the draft. And I had to go with a running back at some point in time because the Titans need a power runner
Starting point is 00:32:28 who can be good in short-yarding situations since they are staying with Tony Pollard and Tage Spears with this draft. I went with Seth McGowan, the running back out of Kentucky, 6 foot, 223 pounds, so big time size, strong player. He's 23 and a half years old, so he's old enough to be ready to come in and contribute right now. Powerback, good in short yardage, can make guys miss in small spaces,
Starting point is 00:32:55 which is good for short yardage opportunities. He's a decisive runner who puts his foot in the ground and gets downhill. Look, he doesn't have super long end speed. He's not the most explosive, not great in power. protection. He's had five fumbles in two years, so something that needs to be cleaned up. But in a short yardage specific situation and role for the Titans, he can fill a need, put his nose to the grindstone, get downhill, north and south, and Brian Dables, multiple run scheme, and he's a nice little compliment and can push Colell Mullings.
Starting point is 00:33:28 And one of those two guys is going to step up and take that role. I was hoping to get Eric Gentry. I was looking at Wes Nuski, the safety, out of Texas Tech, and they both win a couple of picks before 2.25, so I went with a running back who can give that power element and push Collelle Mullings, and one of those two guys is going to step up. But overall, the full seven round mock draft, we made a trade back to number seven, picked up an extra third round pick, and most importantly, got an extra first round pick in 2027. So an extra first round pick in 2027, a loaded draft class with Cardnell Tate, Maxie, and Accor, Jennings, Duff, Dundle.
Starting point is 00:34:06 Donker, Joshua Josephs, Matt Gooblin, Charles Demings, Tanner Coziel, and Seth McGowan. I think I hit this thing out of the park. Let me know how you would grade this mock draft down below, what changes you would make, what picks you would do differently than me. That's going to do it though for me today, folks. As always, I am your host, Tyler Rowland, and this was Locked on Titans.
